Tell us about yourself, who are you and what makes you so rad? I raced BMX for 10 years then got into cross country which I then realised pedaling is the worst. Transitioned to enduro then to downhill a year later and found myself racing World Cups. After two years of racing World Cups and accomplishing my dream of being elite national champion, I felt there was still something missing. This year I found my missing piece and switched to freeride. I’ve fallen in love with scaring myself half to death in Virgin and learning new tricks, trying to push the Women’s freeride movement as much as I can.

Competition or just riding? Just riding for sure. The pressure of racing can put such a heavy damper on the creativeness of riding. There is more freedom when and I think I’ve done my best riding when I’m lapping with friends at my local bike park.
Samantha Soriano
What’s your all time favourite mountain biking trip? Going to whistler every year for Crankworx.

What do you love about riding? Riding has taught me my most valuable lessons in life and so much more about myself. Some of my happiest and saddest moments have been riding. There is no creative limit on what you can do on a bike and that creativity can be shared with people who experience the same unparalleled passion you do.

What are you most proud of achieving through riding? Being the youngest person to win Elite National Champs and being one of the first girls to do a no foot can on a mtb.

One tip you would give to a grom wanting to become a pro rider like yourself? As cliche as it sounds, don’t stop dreaming. If you want something, push yourself until you achieve it. Acknowledge that there are going to be many challenges along the way but growth only comes from adversity.
