What a day in Maribor! Unlike the first two rounds of the DH World Cup this year where riders were challenged by the wet and muddy conditions Maribor turned up the heat and it was time for the riders to throw up some dust on the weekend. The dry conditions on the course made for an exciting fast race.
The riders had a little break for the past few weeks, nevertheless, the motivation was higher than ever. To that point, after a strong run in the Qualification rounds, both Myriam Nicole and Thibaut Daprela came away with P2, and Tristan Lemire with his best Quali results at P4.
But the race day belonged to Myriam, no amount of heat or dust could slow her down. Pushing the absolute limit on physical and mental challenges Myriam finished a strong run to take the top step on the podium and her first victory of the 2021 DH World Cup season!
The Men’s field was one of the most exciting races of the season thus far, with close time between the top riders Thibaut finished on a high note by taking the 2nd place in a very fast finish proving he’s not slowing down anytime soon!
In the junior’s race, Tristan came away with his best result in the World Cup by finishing 5th!
Both Myriam and Thibaut are now leading the overall classification and retaining the Leader’s Jerseys.
Bring on the World Champs! 🔥
